The Dallas Stars lived to fight another day after avoiding the sweep at the hands of the Vegas Golden Knights, winning Game 4 in overtime. It was the third overtime game of the series.
Now, the two teams will head back to Vegas for a Saturday night Game 5.
Can the Stars win again and force a Game 6 back in Dallas?
Let’s find out what the oddsmakers think.
Golden Knights vs. Stars odds, puck line, and total
Golden Knights vs. Stars prediction and pick
I have bet on the Stars in every game in this series and I see no reason to stop that strategy now, heading into Game 5.
The Stars lead the Golden Knights in virtually every metric you want to look at, outside of the final score. For example, they’re outshooting them by a combined total of 140-116 through the first four games.
If you want to look at more advanced metrics, the Stars have the advantage in expected goals, 3.17 per 60 minutes of play compared to 2.38 of the Golden Knights.
The key to the game is going to be the Stars goaltender, Jake Oettinger, who has largely disappointed so far in the postseason. But, with that being said, he showed up in a big way in both eliminated games.
He stood on his head in Game 7 against the Seattle Kraken and then played his best game of the series in Game 4 against the Golden Knights.
If he can put together another strong performance on Saturday, the Stars are going to be a good bet as underdogs to force a Game 6.
