The second round of the NHL Playoffs have begun which means we’re down to the final eight teams in the race for the Stanley Cup.
With that in mind, it’s time to take a look at the latest odds to win the Conn Smythe Trophy, which is given to the MVP of the NHL Playoffs at the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Final.
It comes to a surprise to no one that Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers, who is a lock to win the Hart Trophy as the regular season MVP, is the betting favorite to win the Conn Smythe.
Let’s take a look at the full list of the latest odds.
Remember, for a player to win the Conn Smythe Trophy they need to, at the very least, make the Stanley Cup Final and likely win it as well.
That’s why it makes sense for there to be two members of the Oilers at the top of the odds list. Not only is McDavid the best hockey player on Planet Earth, but Edmonton is also the betting favorite to win the Stanley Cup.
Another tempting option if you’re looking for someone a little bit further down the odds list is goaltender for the New Jersey Devils, Akira Schmid.
Schmid got the call to start after New Jersey was facing an 0-2 series deficit to the New York Rangers. He then went on to lead the Devils to a 4-1 record with a .955 save percentage and two shutouts.
It’s common in the NHL Playoffs for a goaltender to carry a team to the Cup, and if there is any goalie this postseason that looks like they can do exactly that, it’s Schmid.
He’s available to bet on to win the Conn Smythe trophy at +1600.
