Today’s USMNT news includes Sergino Dest being linked with a move to Union Berlin, Antonee Robinson could be set for a transfer from Fulham but Christian Pulisic was again left on the bench for Chelsea.
USMNT news: Sergino Dest to Union Berlin
Sergino Dest has endured a difficult time on loan at AC Milan from Barcelona. The USMNT full-back has played just eight times in Serie A and they will not be looking to extend his stay at the club. However, a move to the Bundesliga with Union Berlin could be on the cards.
Mi Bundesliga has reported that “there is already an agreement with the player and with Barcelona for him to go on loan to the Bundesliga for one year. The official announcement would come at the end of this season.”
Union Berlin is not as big a name club as Barcelona or Milan but they could be the perfect fit for Dest at this stage in his career. They are also a very impressive third in the Bundesliga, only Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are ahead of them. Dortmund currently top the division but they are only five points ahead of Union Berlin.
They should qualify for the Champions League next year and they also have fellow USMNT player Jordan Pefok in their ranks. Dest has experience in La Liga, Serie A and the Eredivisie and now has an opportunity to play in the Bundesliga.
USMNT news: Antonee Robinson’s Fulham future
Antonee Robinson’s future at Fulham has been thrown into doubt as the club is seeking reinforcements at left-back. It could be quite good news for Robinson who was linked to Manchester City in January that the club preparing for his departure. The USMNT full-back could be set to join a bigger club.
Sky Sports reported that “Fulham want to sign Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo when he becomes a free agent this summer.” It is unclear what teams might be in for Robinson but possibly City will be looking to sign him at the end of the season.
Robinson has impressed playing alongside fellow American Tim Ream with the Cottagers this season and they are currently 10th in the Premier League.
USMNT news: Christian Pulisic benched again
It is one thing staying on the bench for a Champions League match against Real Madrid but Pulisic has now been left out of Chelsea’s 2-0 home defeat by Brentford last night.
The optimism that Pulisic might rediscover some form playing under Frank Lampard again has gone as he is not getting any game time. The time he has spent on the bench must have enabled Pulisic to come to the conclusion that he must move on from Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea is set to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager which could be a fresh start for Pulisic. However, the American has now had limited game time under Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and now Lampard at the club. A new coach may not be the answer but a new club could be.
