Retired Aussie boxer Anthony Mundine is in talks to fight boxing legend Manny Pacquiao in an exhibition bout – and fellow Australian boxer Nedal Hussein isn’t thrilled about the prospect.

The 47-year-old announced on Tuesday that plans were in the works for his shock return to the ring against the Filipino superstar in a bout that would take place in Papua New Guinea.

‘The Man’, who is a former three-time WBA junior middleweight champion, took to Instagram to let the world know.

‘Something crazy has just happened when I went to PNG,’ he said.

‘I’ve been asked to do an exhibition and promote the sport of boxing over there (with) none other than the eight-time world boxing champion Manny ‘PacMan’ Pacquiao.’

The bout would be Mundine’s first return to the ring since his brutal knockout at the hands of Michael Zerafa in 2021.

Sydney boxer Nedal ‘Skinny’ Hussein, who was robbed by a corrupt referee in his fight against Pacquiao, 44, in 2000 and has also been in talks for a potential exhibition rematch, says he’s not impressed with the announcement. 

‘[I’m] Happy for Choc, but I’m not impressed,’ he told Daily Mail Australia. ‘Fighter’s safety should come first. Choc has been knocked out like seven times.’

Both fighters expressed interest in doing an exhibition fight in Sydney, though nothing has been finalised.
