NBA Best Bets Today (Predictions for Terry Rozier, Knicks-Bulls and Mavs-Cavs)

Does it get any better than having 10 NBA games in action in a single night?

I know that I’ll be sitting back to watch as many of these games as possible, especially with a few head-to-head matchups between stars (I see you Luka Doncic and Donovan Mitchell).

Speaking of Mitchell and Doncic, I have a play in today’s NBA Best Bets column on the Dallas Mavericks-Cleveland Cavaliers matchup, with a couple of trends lining up perfectly for one team to win.

As always, I have a favorite prop of the night, although it comes in a game between the two worst teams in the East. We need some reason to watch the Charlotte Hornets and Detroit Pistons face off!

If you’ve been following my column this season, you know that we’re off to a great start, and that we’ve won 11 of our last 15 plays. That’s even hotter than Damian Lillard was a few nights ago against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

10 games, three picks and a ton of fun NBA action to watch. Let’s have a Wednesday!

NBA Best Bets Record to Date

NBA Best Bets Record for 2022-23 Season: 86-69-1 (+7.5171 units)

NBA Best Bets Today

  • Terry Rozier OVER 33.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists (-125)
  • New York Knicks-Chicago Bulls UNDER 226.5 (-110)
  • Dallas Mavericks Moneyline (-130) vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

Terry Rozier OVER 33.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists (-125)

The Hornets may be terrible this season, but injuries to LaMelo Ball, Gordon Hayward and Dennis Smith Jr. have opened up a ton of opportunities for Terry Rozier on offense this season.

Rozier is averaging 22.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game while shooting 40.7 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from 3.

The efficiency from the Hornets guard isn’t great, but he’s taking a ton of shots, which gives me a lot of confidence that he will see the usage to clear this prop on Wednesday.

Over Rozier’s last seven games, he’s gone OVER 33.5 PRA in each of them, averaging 25.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game. He’s also taking 21.4 shots per game over that stretch, an absurdly high number.

The Hornets’ offense stinks, ranking dead last in the NBA entering this game, so why not trust Rozier and Kelly Oubre to try and carry a makeshift roster?

The Pistons are 29th in the NBA in defensive rating this season, so easy baskets should be available for Rozier tonight. He’s a solid bet to move this streak to eight straight OVER 33.5 PRA.

New York Knicks-Chicago Bulls UNDER 226.5 (-110)

This is one of my favorite bets on the night, and I shared on Daily Knicks earlier today why I love the UNDER in the New York Knicks-Chicago Bulls matchup.

First, let’s start with the Knicks side of things.

The team has been terrific on defense as of late, climbing to 11th in the NBA in defensive rating after sitting in the bottom 10 of the league for most of the season.

Three of the Knicks’ last four games they have held their opponent to less than 100 points, and they’ve gone UNDER this total in six straight matchups.

The Knicks may also be without one of their best offensive players, guard Jalen Brunson, who is questionable with a right foot contusion. New York is middle of the pack in offensive rating this season (112.1) but that number rises to 120.2 when Brunson is on the floor.

If he misses this game, the Knicks’ offense is going to suffer.

On the Bulls side, Chicago comes into this game with the league’s No. 19 offense but No. 7 defense. The Bulls are also one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA, a big issue against this Knicks team.

New York has been one of the worst teams at defending the 3-point shot this season, but the Bulls rank 27th in the NBA in 3-pointers made per game (10.3).

I think it’s also worth noting that three of the four games between these teams last year finished with 213 or fewer combined points.

This total is just way too high with New York’s defense rounding into form.

Dallas Mavericks Moneyline (-130) vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

If you’re a trends bettor, you’re going to love how the trends line up for the Mavericks on Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Dallas has been the worst team in the NBA against the spread this season, so I’m deciding to forget the spread and back the Mavs on the moneyline.

Here’s why:

  • Dallas is 11-4 straight up at home this season
  • Cleveland is 5-9 straight up on the road this season
  • Cleveland is 1-5 against the spread as a road underdog

The Cavs are coming off a bad road loss to the San Antonio Spurs, and now they’re facing a Dallas team that’s only loss at home this month was a one-point loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Doncic is going to have it going no matter what, but the Mavericks’ role players seem to thrive at home.

I don’t see Cleveland turning around its road struggles in this game.
