Look: Georgia football players show off national championship rings at G-Day

Georgia national championship rings were on display during G-Day with several former players returning to Athens to show off the new jewelry.

Saturday was a great day to tee it up Between the Hedges to celebrate all that is great about Georgia football.

This was the first time a game of sorts was played at Sanford Stadium since the Dawgs won their first national title since 1980. While it was only the glorified intrasquad exhibition culminating the end of spring practice known as G-Day, many former Dawgs showed up to support their former teammates as they prepare for life in the NFL. They also got to flash some impressive jewelry.

Here is Nakobe Dean, Julian Rochester, Justin Shaffer and Zamir White enjoying their Saturday.

Check out Jordan Davis giving the people what they want with a close-up of the ring on the Sanford Stadium Jumbotron.

And here is a sweet video the Georgia Football team account tweeted out about those rings.

Now that Georgia has gotten the proverbial monkey off its back, the college football world wants to see if Kirby Smart and the boys can do it again. While repeating is so very difficult, Georgia is on the short list of teams who can realistically win the College Football Playoff. Even though they play in the gauntlet known as the SEC, Georgia is projected to be one of the four teams getting in.

The biggest reason Georgia was able to win its first national title in 41 years is it had an all-time defensive front-seven. While many of those players are turning pro, including Davis and Dean, Georgia continues to recruit at a top-four level nationwide. The Dawgs’ offense should be even better than the year prior. Though the defense may pull back, the secondary could be sensational.

Ultimately, G-Day was a day of celebration in The Classic City. Every Dawg hopes to have his day in the sun, and that was Georgia on Saturday. While Arik Gilbert put the rest of the SEC on notice with his elite playmaking ability firmly on display in the exhibition contest, all eyes are on the Dawgs to see what they can do vs. Dan Lanning’s Oregon Ducks in Atlanta on Labor Day Weekend.

No matter what happens next, these Dawgs will forever be champions in the State of Georgia.
